The Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) was established in 1992 with the aims of improving the status and profile of guitar teachers, and helping to ensure their professional recognition within the mainstream of music education, by the establishment of an accredited range if comprehensive and well structured teaching programs. RGT in now the world’s largest organisation of guitar teachers and, in conjunction with its partner London College of Music Examinations (one of the world’s most respected music examination boards, established since 1887), provides accredited exams in electric guitar, rock guitar, acoustic guitar, jazz guitar, bass guitar, classical guitar, ukulele and popular music theory.

RGT exams start at beginner level and progress to professional Diplomas. From Grade One onwards, RGT grade exams are regulated by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) and UCAS points are awarded for Grade 6 and above.

Exams are held each year in October-November. The entry deadline is August 14th.

My Guitar School has been accredited as the official RGT representative for the Sydney area. If you would like to register for the RGT exams or have any other questions about the RGT exams, please feel free to contact us.
