The Rock Ensemble Program offers students the opportunity to enhance their skills and develop their musicianship through forming and playing in an ensemble.
Under the guidance of MGS teachers, students will learn a set repertoire and prepare songs for performances throughout the year.
Rock Ensemble Program Objectives
Through this Rock Ensemble Program, our objectives are as follows:
- To enhance the students’ skills as a musician
- To inspire students to be passionate about music
- Build self-confidence
- Learn to interact with others and play in unity with ensemble members through listening to others, mutual respect and supporting one another
- Representing MGS MUSIC in community events and festivals
Rock Band - Program Details
Rock Ensemble rehearsal – 1 hr each week
Practice Sessions are conducted throughout the NSW School Term
Regular attendance at Practice Sessions is mandatory for a student’s overall progress
Frequent absences from practice will impede progress and will result in the student’s enrolment in the Ensemble to be cancelled
Equipment Needed
Students are encouraged to use their own electric/semi-acoustic guitar or bass guitar, straps and tuners
Enrolment Requirements
In order to be in the Ensemble, students need to be able to play their instrument at an intermediate level and must currently receive music tuition for their instrument.

As a student of guitar, I can definitely state that I have improved over the years and that i am attempting songs/pieces that I wouldn't have dreamed of before. This is thanks to some amazing teachers that I have had such as Matt Arthur to start with and to currently, Martyn Hadders who seems to be able to get the best out of me. It has been very enjoyable!
